Pray To The Father In Jesus Name! By James Lantz
This is the day that the Lord has made! The day that the Lord has made is the day of grace in which we live. We have been given a better covenant with better promises! This includes the name of Jesus and two additional gifts of the Spirit (tongues & interpretation of tongues). The name of Jesus was not available for God’s people under the old covenant but only conferred upon Jesus after His death and resurrection. This name that is above every other name has been given to Jesus and His body the church. We have become one spirit with the Lord by being born from above! The Holy Spirit compares our relationship with Christ as a husband and wife in the holy covenant of marriage. Eph. 5:32 NLT This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one. We the church are the bride of Christ and by faith we are married to the Lord. Romans 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God. Within this marriage we receive His Name and the privilege to use His Name. Upon securing man’s redemption Jesus was exalted to sit at the Father’s right hand and His name was elevated above every other name in heaven and earth and under the earth. Phil. 2:8 NLT He humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Phil. 2:9 NLT Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names
God exalted Jesus’ Name above every other name!
Some are confused and think that God the Father and Jesus are one and the same. They are one in Spirit and one in purpose, but the Father is the one who planned and purposed for Jesus to be the sacrificial Lamb. Jesus willingly suffered and died for our sins, sicknesses, and poverty and bore the brunt of the Father’s wrath for three days and three nights in hell. Isaiah 53:10 YLT And Jehovah hath delighted to bruise him, He hath made him sick, If his soul doth make an offering for guilt, He seeth seed — he prolongeth days, And the pleasure of Jehovah in his hand doth prosper. Is. 53:11 YLT Of the labour of his soul he seeth — he is satisfied, Through his knowledge give righteousness Doth the righteous one, My servant, to many, And their iniquities he doth bear. God is extremely just and fair and therefore man’s sin had to be punished. God is also extremely merciful to the repentant one who yields himself to Him. The Almighty was very pleased to place our punishment on Jesus so that He could account us as righteous through our union with Jesus. 2 Cor. 5:21 GNT Christ was without sin, but for our sake God made him share our sin in order that in union with him we might share the righteousness of God. Remember, Jesus said, My Father is greater than I. The Holy Spirit through Paul says there is one Lord (Jesus) and one God and Father of all. 1 Cor. 15:27 NIV For he “has put everything under his feet.” Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. Our Father in heaven is ruling His kingdom through Jesus and the church. Everyone who believes and humbles themselves before God confessing Jesus as their Lord becomes a joint heir with Christ. Those who are in Christ Jesus and are walking in fellowship with the Father have the right to come to the Father and receive the answer to their requests in Jesus name! The Father answers our prayers in Jesus’ name just the same as if Jesus would have asked the Father personally. We are accepted as righteous because we have been made right through Jesus shed blood and His resurrection. The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. Through the cross we have been crucified unto the world and the world has been crucified unto us. The gospel is the best news anyone has ever heard and yet the proud resist. Rom. 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
The Gospel Is The Power Of God!
The honest, humble, and intelligent person will say, God’s word is right and I repent and believe in the name of Jesus. 1 John 3:23 NLT And this is his commandment: We must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he commanded us.
God is still the same as He always was! He blesses the humble and resist the proud! God still hates sin and loves righteousness! In this new covenant we relate to God and access Him through Christ Jesus and His righteousness. Jesus ushered in the new birth and sent the Holy Spirit for all who would obey Him. Jesus taught His disciples to pray to the Father, including crucial elements for successful prayer, but the name of Jesus was not yet included. Jesus taught them to pray to the Father with great reverence, asking for kingdom things first, your needs second, forgiving others, seeking divine guidance, and praising God for the answer. Right before Jesus went to the cross He prepped His disciples of how to pray in the new covenant which would be implemented when He poured out His own blood in the heavenly Holy of Holies obtaining eternal redemption for us! Jesus was the sacrificial lamb, He shed His blood once for all, rose from the dead, and now is the High Priest of this new covenant. The Father has given Him a name that is above every other name and we are told to pray to the father in that name. John 16:23 NIV In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.

The name of Jesus has been given to the church, the family of God, the body of Christ so that we can rule and reign in this life! Ask and it shall be given you, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you!
