Praying God’s will into the earth! By James Lantz
Jesus instructed His disciples to pray that the Father’s will would be done in the earth just like it was being done in heaven. Of course we know that God’s word is His will and that His will is only good and not evil. Even if we didn’t have Jesus’ own testimony that He came to give us abundant life we still have the record of how it was on the earth prior to man’s sin and the curse of the law. Before the curse there was no death, no poverty, no sickness, no hatred, and no evil of any kind. We also read how there will be no killing nor sadness nor any evil after the evil devil is cast into the bottomless pit. We have God’s word that He will be taking care of us abundantly throughout eternity and since God is always the same we know that His will for us is the same today. John Wesley, the founder of the Methodists, said that it seems that God can do nothing in the earth unless someone asks him. This agrees with the teaching of Jesus, the prophets, Paul and the other apostles. Jesus is very zealous for God’s house and we are God’s house. Mt. 21:13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. Throughout the history of man the prayers of God’s people have brought deliverance, revelation, blessing, and healing into the earth. God turned Job’s captivity when he prayed for his friends and God blessed him with twice as much as before. Daniel prayed and God revealed end time secrets to Daniel. There was a multitude of people praying outside the temple while Zacharias executed the burning of incense according to his lot. Luke 1:11 And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. Luke 1:13 the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. It seems that God does special miracles when there is united prayer. After being threatened by the high priest and elders for healing a crippled man in the name of Jesus, Peter and John went to their own company and prayed. They prayed and asked God for boldness to speak His word and that God would stretch forth His hand to heal and do signs and wonders by the name of His holy child Jesus. God shook the house and we know by reading the rest of the book of Acts that God used them mightly in gifts of healings, miracles, and the gift of faith. We are members of the same church that Peter and John and the early disciples were when they prayed the things of heaven into the earth. This is our time and God has declared that the latter house will be greater than the former! Hag. 2:9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts . . . Ecc. 7:8 Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. Jesus is coming back for a glorious church, one who is sanctified and holy and full of power! Eph. 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. Jesus said that we are to ask and that it would be given us. Paul writes that we are to be careful for nothing, but rather let our requests be known to the Father through prayer and supplication with thanksgiving. James reveals that there are only two reasons that our prayers would not be heard and answered and one of those reasons is that we don’t ask. You would think that we don’t need to be instructed that we will not be granted our request if we don’t ask but apparently we do. God said He wants us to ask Him because we are qualified to receive from Him through Jesus Christ. Col. 1:12 AMPC Giving thanks to the Father, Who has qualified and made us fit to share the portion which is the inheritance of the saints (God’s holy people) in the Light. The only other reason that we don’t receive from the Father is because we ask to fulfill our own lusts. Oh, by the way, this means that you will have to put away your idols in order to get God’s ear. An idol is anything that you delight in more than you delight in obeying God, serving God, and building His church. If you are not sure what you delight in just take a look at your schedule and your check book because that will tell the story. Take note of what you think about a lot and check your face to see what kind of things brings you joy because these are what you love the most. James 4:2&3 WNT . . . You have not, because you do not pray; or you pray and yet do not receive, because you pray wrongly, your object being to waste what you get on some pleasure or another.
Jesus is coming for a glorious church regardless of how we respond to His marvelous grace, however, our response to the Master’s instruction will determine if we partake of His glorious grace! God is looking to bless, and promote those who give themselves to His things and the work of His kingdom. God’s desire has always been to bless and promote those who are faithful to His cause. God took David from the sheepfold to being king over His people Israel. Acts 13:22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will. God was so honored that David wanted to build Him a house that He told David, I will build your house by having My Son born from your descendants. God is a rewarder of those who believe Him and diligently seek Him. On the other hand, those who despise His kingdom and His gracious offer to be a part of what He is doing get punished. God told the big fat preacher, Eli, because you honour your sons above Me, making yourselves fat with the best of all the offerings of my people you are going to be removed from office. 1 Sam. 1:30 . . . them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed. We honor the Lord by getting all in on His plans and purposes and wherever He is there are we also! He wants us filled with the Spirit! You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. The limiting factor of what God will do for us and through us is according to how much we yield ourselves to the Holy Spirit’s working within us. Eph. 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. This power working within us is the power of God working through His body.
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing!
Those who are extra strong, extra fast, or even extra smart have no advantage over others because this power is not of the flesh. You just have to let the Holy Spirit show you what to yield to and what to resist. John 6:63 ESV It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. Jesus is coming back for a glorious church! God wants all of His people praying for God’s will to be accomplished in the earth and for His glory to fill this earth. We have been called, authorized, commissioned, set apart, given Jesus Name, and empowered from within. Jesus the great high priest of our confession, is listening for us to speak and pray God’s word so that His mighty angels can bring every word to pass. Psalm 103:20 NASB Bless the LORD, you His angels, Mighty in strength, who perform His word, Obeying the voice of His word! Pray to the Father in the Name of Jesus! Pray for your civil leaders and your spiritual leaders first of all so that you may live in quietness and peace and that the gospel may be preached freely. Pray in faith expecting God to fulfill His word for you. You are made righteous through Christ Jesus because you believe! Pray without ceasing! Remember the new commandment that Jesus gave us, Love one another the same way that I have loved you! Eph. 6:18 NLT Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. Walk in love and your prayers will be answered speedily!
Lev. 6:13 The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.
