Luke 14:28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
Count Again! By James L Lantz
Our Lord and Master, Jesus, the Lamb of God, the Redeemer, Messiah, Savior of the world was and is all in with the Father’s plan. He didn’t back away, He didn’t turn to the left or to the right, He set His face like flint, endured the suffering and shame by focusing on the joy that was before Him. Jesus fully expects those who believe in Him to be all in with He and the Father. He told those in the Laodicean church that being partly in and partly out was unacceptable. Revelation 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Jesus said things like, if you are not for Me, you’re against Me, and if you’re not helping Me gather you are one who is scattering. Luke 11:23 He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth. We also have the account of the rich young ruler who turned down Jesus invitation to join His evangelistic team and possible apostleship over his love for stuff. This young man went away sad when he heard that Jesus wanted him to liquidate all his assets, give to the poor, and take up his cross, and follow Him. Those who love their life will lose it, but those who hate their life in this world will reap eternal life! Jesus did instruct us to count the cost! Luke 14:28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
Perhaps you are facing obstacles today that seem impossible to overcome? I want to remind you that all things are possible with God! Jesus spoke of how He could do nothing without the Father. John 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. Jesus often referred to Himself as the Son of man verifying that He was walking this earth as one of us. Phil. 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: He was here not only as the sacrificial Lamb of God, but also as our example of how sons of God are to do the Father’s bidding. Jesus only did and said what He saw or heard His Father do and say! In His first miracle He instructed the servants to do that which the Father had showed Him or told Him. Mary had already instructed the servants to do whatever Jesus told them. John 2:5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. The key to the miraculous is, do whatever He says to you! Peter didn’t have faith to get out of the boat and walk on the water until he knew it was God’s will. God’s word is His will and Jesus only spoke the will of His Father. Signs and wonders, miracles, and gifts of the Spirit are given according to the will of God. Heb. 2:4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will? The good news is that God wills for the gifts of His Spirit to flow freely through those who believe! God wills to do so much more in and through His people by His Spirit! James only mentions two reasons why God doesn’t grant us that which we desire. Either we didn’t ask Him or we asked with wrong motives. Many of the individuals who received miracles in the scriptures asked God for them. Peter was the only disciple who asked to come out on the water with Jesus and he asked in a manner which could not be denied. Blind Bartimaeus cried out unashamedly for Jesus to have mercy on him! The woman with the issue of blood didn’t even ask, she just reached out in faith and received her healing. God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us! God desires to release abundantly more of His power and love to those who ask Him! God is much more gracious and generous than king Ahasuerus who extended his golden scepter to queen Esther. Heb. 1:8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
Jesus came to give us the God kind of life and to give it abundantly! We are saved, delivered, protected, healed, preserved, prospered, and made whole through confession and faith in God. The greek word translated saved in Romans ten nine includes all in this previous sentence. Rom. 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Whatever you need has already been provided for you through the Lord Jesus Christ.
1. If you thought God would not save you, count again. Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost. He took our sins upon Himself when He died on the cross and salvation is available to everyone who will receive Jesus, God’s Son.
2. If you are bound and tried many times to get free with no success, count again. Deliverance is available to you right now because Jesus died and rose to set the captives free! Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3. Those who have been beaten and battered in the past, count again, there is protection for you in the secret place of the Most High God. Ps. 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. The very next verse tells us what to do to enjoy His protection. We must declare by faith that we are protected and trust Him to keep us safe!
4. Too many people are still wandering if it is God’s will to heal them. We must get that question settled before we can have faith for healing, because, faith begins when the will of God is known. There was a leper who came to Jesus, saying, if you will, you can make me clean. As soon as he heard Jesus say, I will, he received his healing. Matthew 8:3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. It does not matter how long we suffered, or what kind of disease has come against us, Jesus bore our sicknesses and wants us healed. It’s time to count yourself qualified to receive of that which Christ has purchased for you! Col. 1:12 ESV giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.
5. Those of us who have been baptized into Christ are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, giving us a foretaste of our inheritance, while we anticipate the fullness of our redemption! Count yourself preserved, no one can remove you from the Fathers hand. The only way one could be removed from the body of Christ is to choose to leave Him, and only after experiencing five levels of God’s goodness. First having been illuminated to their need for salvation, then born again, filled with the Holy Spirit, tasted of the good word of God, and tasted the powers of the world to come. (see Hebrews 6:4-6) Jude warns us to earnestly contend for the faith and beware of those who crept into the church who have turned God’s grace into looseness and lustfulness. Jude refers to those who were once a child of God, but then rejected the Lord, as being dead again and will experience blackness and darkness forever. Jude 12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;
6. Bringing God’s tithe into the storehouse and sowing offerings into God’s work brings increase into our lives. If time has passed and there is no increase we must check our heart, am I doing what God called me to do with cheerfulness, am I expecting increase, am I walking in love, am I sowing with joyfulness and gladness. Make the necessary adjustments and count yourself blessed!
7. Being saved includes being made whole (perfect, or complete). Redemption was made for the whole man, spirit, soul, and body. Our spirit was recreated in Christ, we are a new creation in Christ. Our mind, will, and emotions are to be transformed by the renewing of the mind by the word of God. Healing and wholeness have been made available for our physical bodies. There was one leper, upon seeing that he was healed, returned to Jesus to give thanks. Luke 17:15&16 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked him, where are the others that were cleansed and then declared that it was his faith that made him whole. vrs. 19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole. Count yourself redeemed from the curse and glorify your Father in heaven!
In counting the cost of following Jesus make sure you count what it will cost you if you don’t follow Him. Those who build their house on the sand will be destroyed by the storms of life. Those who cover their sins will not prosper but whoever confesses and forsakes his sins will have mercy.
There is no peace for the wicked and after this life there is eternal punishment for the rebellious one.
Rom. 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. Let’s press in for His goodness! He said, My yoke is easy, and My burden is light! Cast all of your cares upon the Lord because He cares for you! We were made to be carefree and to rejoice in the Lord our God. It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord! John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. See yourself with the Blessing! Count yourself as one whom the Lord loves!
Update On The Lands And Building Project!
The Lord has given us clarity on the the design of the church building and location of the driveway. Driveway permit process has brought some PennDot requested revisions and we are expecting to get the permit soon. PRAISE THE LORD!
Investors will share in the reward for every salvation, every backslider who comes back to God, every one who receives the baptism in the Holy Spirit, every person healed, delivered and restored, instructed and trained in the way of righteousness through this ministry. Jesus stated that where our treasure is, there will our heart be also. Our heart follows that which we value highly. David set his affection on God’s house and prepared for the building of God’s house with all his might and he finished well. Every seed we sow into kingdom projects secures a reward for us in heaven and brings forth a harvest in the earth after it’s own kind, plus we are keeping our heart close to God. God loves His people and will not with hold any good thing from those that love Him and are joined to His purposes. All who value our Lord’s command to not lay up treasure on earth for ourselves must keep our motivation for accumulation of wealth to be for distribution!
You can have a part in this great work regardless of your current financial status. God is looking for people who are willing to give from what they have! Jesus will take the little and make it into a lot! In the scriptures we hear things like, what do you have in your house, or give according to what you have and not according to what you don’t have. Paul praises the liberality of those in the Macedonia churches who gave cheerfully even though they were experiencing much lack in their own lives. 2 Cor. 8:2 How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. Paul then tells how they intreated him to please receive their gift! God was pleased with their faith and willingness to give from the little that they had. If we have desire but have nothing to give, God wants us to ask Him for seed. The same God who gives us food to eat, and multiplies the seed we have sown, is the God who gives seed to the sower. 2 Corinthians 9:10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;
This is good news! God is looking at our heart and not at how much we have or don’t have in our earthy account. Jesus said, I will build My church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against My church. You and I both know that gates are stationary, they do not charge anybody. We are the ones who charge the gates of hell where satan has bound those who are waiting to hear the truth that makes one free!
