The devil Is Defeated: By James L Lantz
The anointed cherub, Lucifer, whom God created to cover and protect rebelled against his Creator, saying, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God and I will be like the most High. Isaiah 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: Isaiah 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Ezekiel further enlightens us in how he became infatuated with his great beauty and that his wisdom was corrupted through his brightness. Ezekiel 28:17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. Pride disregards wisdom and understanding! There is only One God and He does not share His glory with another! Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. Shortly after saying this the Spirit has Isaiah record this, “Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any”. Our God is all powerful and all knowing and He says, I don’t know of any other God! Lucifer’s uprising in heaven was so far reaching that one third of God’s angels joined in the rebellion. God dealt swiftly with the prideful and rebellious ones as Jesus testified of satan being removed from heaven. Luke 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
This once mighty archangel was removed from heaven but found an inroad into the earth through lies and trickery with God’s precious man. He knew that one act of disobedience would activate the law of sin and death and separate man from God. Romans 5:19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. The devil has not changed and he never will, the only reason he comes around is to steal the word of God from you so he can kill and destroy you. John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. The three main areas which the devil continues to tempt people to disobey God through are, the lusts of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. 1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. Jesus came into the earth with the expressed purpose of destroying the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Father God does things the right way and therefore brought Jesus in legally, being born of a woman! God had spoken that He would bruise satan’s head through the seed of the woman and four thousand years later, right on time,Jesus arrived. Jesus came to give us life and life more abundantly!
God decreed what He would do to Lucifer, that old serpent, the devil.
Ezekiel 28:16 . . . I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee . . .
Ezekiel 28:17 . . . I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
Ezekiel 28:18 . . . therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.
Isaiah 14:15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
Gen. 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Rev. 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Rev. 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
The epistles reveal things about satan’s defeat that were hidden from the foundation of the world! Earlier we emphasized how Adam’s disobedience made us all sinners but we need to focus on the fact the through Jesus obedience many will receive the gift of righteousness. Rom. 5:19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. This gift of righteousness which gives us access to eternal life and the kingdom of God was made available through Jesus victory over death, hell, and the grave. Jesus destroyed the works of the devil through His sufferings, His shed blood, His death, and His resurrection! Jesus spoiled the devil and his demons when He broke out of hell and took His own blood up into the heavenly Holy of Holies. Col. 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Jesus released all the righteous dead, from Able to the converted thief from the cross, from Abraham’s Bosom and led them in a victory march showing them the defeated principalities and powers before entering heaven. Eph. 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. God wants us to pray that the eyes of our understanding be enlightened to what He accomplished for us when He raised Christ from the dead and the exceeding greatness of power He made available to us! ( see Eph. 1:16-23 ) Christ victory over satan and his cohorts is not something that is going to take place but what has already taken place and has been given to the church. The new birth became available since Christ was risen from the dead. We have been delivered from the power of darkness and translated into the kingdom of God’s dear Son through Christ victory over satan! The Spirit of God emphasis how Jesus had to take on flesh and blood because it would be through His death that He would destroy the devil.
Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
Perhaps you are thinking, if satan is defeated, why do we still have so much corruption and evil in this world? He is operating illegally through those who give him place. One way we have given place to the devil was failing to ask God to do good. Jesus said that we are to pray that it will be on earth like it is in heaven. You have not because you ask not, or you ask amiss, for selfish desires or without expectation. Jesus referred to satan as being a strong man, one who dominates or captivates illegally and that he must be bound in order to set the captives free. The least member of the body of Christ has been given authority to bind and to loose! Mt. 18:18 . . . whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Praying the word of God over your life is taking up the sword of the Spirit! No weapon formed against me will prosper! Use your faith to resist the evil one, tell him, no you don’t, I have authority over you in Jesus name!

Update On The Lands And Building Project!
We received our Driveway Permit from PennDot on July 25th for our Church property! A few days later we held a pre construction meeting with the inspector and contractors. Road Work Ahead signs were purchased and put up! Excavation began on August 12th by pulling topsoil back from road frontage area where driveway was to be constructed. Surveyors came the next day and staked out the area for the driveway. Our excavator dug out area for driveway and brought in stone. Macadam was installed at the entrance on August 22nd. Final grading and stone for the balance of driveway was completed September 5th and the next day we seeded the road frontage area to the East. We had no rain to speak of from August 8th till September 21st. Thankfully we had a nice amount of rain prior to start of our digging so the soil was perfect for digging. Weather was perfect for doing our project except it became dusty in the latter part of August and had to water the newly planted grass.
Write the vision, and make it plain that he may run that readeth it.
God is right! He is always right! When we adapt His thoughts we are thinking right! Building God’s church mainly consist of bringing God’s thoughts, His word, to people so they can embrace the truth and have good success by putting it into their daily lives. However, there are processes that aid in educating, tools that accelerate our work, and buildings that accommodate our meetings. Having our own church building is like a family owning their own home. When you have your own home you are not subject to the landlord telling you what you can’t do and that he wants you to move out at the end of your lease. Owning your own place gives you more freedom to customize it to your own taste and needs plus you are the beneficiary of improvements that you make or when property values increase. God likes beauty and things looking very good! In creation God spoke about His work being good and after He created His man and woman He said this is very good! Genesis 1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. God is a God of precision and excellence! God gave specific detailed instructions to Moses in the building of the tabernacle. God gave David His plan for the temple and David said, it must be exceeding magnifical! 1 Chronicles 22:5 And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be builded for the LORD must be exceeding magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore now make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death. God hasn’t changed, He is still the same God today that David and Solomon knew. It took Solomon seven years to build God’s temple. It was beautiful and magnificent standing ninety feet tall, a testimony of His greatness and His goodness to His people! God said this about David, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.
There are people today who want to make God’s things casual and say God doesn’t care about His things being done with beauty, dignity, and honor. God used to care, did He change, or did His messengers begin to change the message. Exodus 28:2 And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother for glory and for beauty. It was God’s idea for His priests to be dressed for glory and beauty. Peter referred to everyone in the body of Christ as a royal priesthood, we have been qualified by the blood of Jesus to enter into that holy place and come before His mercy seat. 1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: God is looking at our hearts but what is in our heart will show up on the outside! The fruit will show up on the outside where everyone can see it and taste it!
Building God’s church today is just as crucial for us as it was for Noah and his family to build the ark. The ark was for the saving of his household and the church today is a place of safety for our family. Everyone of us can do something and God wants everyone involved according to our ability. God spoke to those who had rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem and had built nice homes for themselves but procrastinated in building God’s house. Haggai 1:7&8 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD. The Blessing of the Lord comes on those who put building God’s house a priority! This is a revelation, Give and it shall be given unto you!
