Faith Works By Love! : By James L. Lantz
The righteous walk by faith! Faith can be defined by having confidence in, a conviction of, and a commitment to. The righteous are confident that God will not alter those things gone out of His lips, convinced of His ability to perform that which He has promised, and committed to the ways of His Kingdom. None of God’s grace can be received through our own efforts or our own works. God’s grace can only be received through faith and both grace and faith, are gifts from God. Eph. 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: God, in His great mercy and goodness has provided and extended grace to fallen man! Titus 2:11&12 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Our part is to hear God’s word which brings faith to us, and then act on what He said! Romans 10:17 ASV So belief cometh of hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. God spoke to Abram to leave his home country and his father’s house and go to a place that He would show him and there he would be blessed and through him every family in the earth will be blessed. Genesis 12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. Additional revelation was released in the letters to the church confirming that THE BLESSING, (the gospel) was to be received through faith. Gal. 3:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
FAITH BEGINS WHEN THE WILL OF GOD IS KNOWN!
The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ and we are granted access through faith! It’s better than money in the bank! Jesus sacrificial suffering, death and resurrection is finished! Redemption was and is provided for everyone who will come to Christ in faith! Faith is the currency or avenue by which spiritual blessings are manifested in this earth. When we understand this we know why the psalmist desired God’s word more than fine gold. Ps. 119:127 Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold. Knowing and having the faith of God is both valuable and precious but now we must put faith to work. Faith works every time we work it because it is a law of the Kingdom of God. Romans 3:27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. This is why everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord ( in faith ) will be saved! The number one way we release faith is by saying. Jesus taught us that faith is our servant so he expects His righteous people to live and walk by faith. In teaching about forgiving your brother who trespasses against you, He said, rebuke him, and if he repents forgive him. Luke 17:4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. When the apostles heard this, they said, Lord, increase our faith. Jesus answered them, If you had faith as a grain of mustard seed, you would say to this sycamine tree, Be rooted up and be planted in the sea; and it would obey you. We see in this passage that it only takes a little of the God kind of faith to forgive our brother who repents and to clear away a tree. It will take the love of God to forgive our brother, but Jesus is emphasizing here how we must keep faith working to serve us. Refusing to forgive is the only sin mentioned in the eleventh chapter of Mark that will cut us off from receiving forgiveness from the Father and stop the prayer of faith. Mark 11:26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
Faith works by love! Gal. 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. If our faith isn’t working, this should be the first thing to check, am I walking in the God kind of love. If God isn’t answering our prayers, if our needs aren’t being met, if our healing is not appearing, if we have no confidence before Him, we need to check if we are walking in love. The first commandment is that we are to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Am I loving other things or people more than I love God? If we are smart we will judge ourself according to His definition of love and not the worlds definition of love. John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. 1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. Check where your mind goes, especially when you have free time. Are your thoughts toward the Lord and His things or towards the things of this world. They that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh, but they that are after the Spirit do mind the things of the Spirit. Love is reciprocal!
FAITH WORKS BY LOVE!
Ps. 91:14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. Our relationship with our Heavenly Father is to be a relationship of love, not just of duty.
Next, ask yourself, am I walking in love with the body of Christ? Am I a supplying joint? Am I preferring my brother ahead of myself? At the last supper, after Judas had gone out, Jesus said this! John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. John 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. Jesus said we who follow Him are to deny ourselves and take up our cross daily. Denying ourselves means we are to live consecrated and disciplined lives as good soldiers of Jesus Christ focused on building God’s Kingdom. Taking up our cross speaks of dying to the flesh and submitting ourself to the will of the Father. In Zechariah’s day the people refused to hear the word of the Lord. That word is still true today and we must not be one who turns a rebellious and stubborn shoulder making our ears dull that we might not hear. Zech. 7:9&10 Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother: And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart. Today, many are weak and sickly by not properly discerning the Lord’s body. Each of us are a part of the great body of Christ and God connected us where He chose and expects us to do our part in strengthening those we are connected with to bring growth to His Church. Eph. 4:16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. If you are not a part of a good Bible believing church, seek God where He wants you and get in and be a supplying joint. Psalms 92:13&14 Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; Flourishing is God’s will for all of His children!
