Ordering Our Life Right! By James L. Lantz
We truly have been graced with the ability to choose the path we desire which leads us to our future! Joshua called for Israel to choose this very day who they were going to serve. They decreed that they would serve the Lord prompting Joshua to say you must get rid of your idols. Joshua 24:23 CEV Joshua said, “But you still have some idols, like those the other nations worship. Get rid of your idols! You must decide once and for all that you really want to obey the LORD God of Israel.” Moses had previously exhorted the Israelites that God was putting them on record for their choice that very day. Deut. 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: God’s desire is to have intimate fellowship with each and every person on the planet which is why He offers redemption through covenant. God initially spoke to the whole assembly of Israel out of the midst of the fire, the cloud, and the thick darkness, with a great voice from the mountain, showing them His glory and greatness, but they drew back and feared for their lives. Ex. 19:18 ASV And mount Sinai, the whole of it, smoked, because Jehovah descended upon it in fire; and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly. The mountain skipped like a ram and the little hills like lambs when God spoke! Psalms 114:4 The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs.
Mount Sinai Shook Exceedingly When God Spoke!
Hebrews 12:25&26 ASV See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not when they refused him that warned them on earth, much more shall not we escape who turn away from him that warneth from heaven: whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more will I make to tremble not the earth only, but also the heaven. God’s manifested presence on Mount Sinai was such a fearful sight that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake! God’s desire was for everyone to have such an heart in them, that they would fear Him and always keep all of His commandments so that it might be well with them and their children for ever! The people said to Moses afterward, if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, we will die. You go near and hear all the words the Lord our God shall say and come tell us every thing He says to you and we will hear it and do it. The Lord heard the words that the people spoke too Moses and He said, they have spoken well. Today God speaks to us through His Son, Jesus, The Word of God, full of grace and truth. John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
The fear of the Lord has not been taught very well in these recent days but God has not changed a bit since He met with Moses and the children of Israel on Mount Sinai. When the church began the disciples walked in the fear of the Lord. They believed the preached word that they must turn from the vain lifestyle of this crooked and perverse world. They received the Holy Spirit and saw and heard of His mighty miracles. They witnessed Ananias and Sapphira falling dead for lying to the Holy Spirit. Acts 9:31 Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied. Hebrews 12:28&29 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire. It is the goodness of God that leads men to repentance as God reveals Himself to our hearts! He speaks to our hearts through His word, through His ministry gifts, through prophecy and tongues and interpretation of tongues, the voice of the Spirit, or audibly on occasion. God’s number one way of leading the new covenant believer is through the inward witness because He resides on the inside of us. God expects us to follow His leading in the path that He has prepared for us! The first thing the Spirit of God instructs us to pray for our fellow believer in the Ephesians one prayer is that their eyes be opened to the hope of His calling! The tradition of men says that it is the pastor’s and evangelist’s job to do the work of the ministry but God’s plan is that everyone find their place and do their part. We have been given the ministry of reconciliation and called to be Christ’s ambassadors! 2 Corinthians 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
As new believers we are to lay aside all malice, all guile, hypocrisies, envies, all evil speakings and desire the sincere milk of the word, that we may grow. It is the will of God that we grow spiritually and become an asset to the kingdom of God. Spiritual growth, like physical and mental growth, takes place gradually as we follow God’s instructions. A second grader is not able to do the work of a tenth grader and therefore they must graduate through each grade in order to reach the tenth grade and beyond. Some of us, being ignorant of the law of progression, would not even have gone to school, let alone graduated from high school, if we did not have parents that said we must. We now know there are many rewards for progressing and developing and so it is with developing spiritually. The apostle John writes, what manner of love has the Father bestowed on us by making us His children.
Those Who Are Led By The Spirit Of God Are The Mature Sons Of God!
1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. When Jesus returns for His church we are going to be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, our bodies are going to become immortal like His glorious body. 1 Cor. 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. The catching away of the saints is going to be exhilarating, but we must be about our Father’s business until Jesus appears! We are exhorted in scripture to seek the knowledge of God which will cause grace and peace to be multiplied in us. 2 Peter 1:2&3 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Don’t miss what the Spirit of God is saying, grace and peace are multiplied to us through the knowledge of God! This abundance of grace coupled with the gift of righteousness grants us the ability to reign in this life through Christ Jesus!
The word of God is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path! God’s words are life to those who find them and health to all their flesh! The words that Jesus speaks to us are spirit and they are life! God says that if we keep to His path He will show us His salvation! Psalms 50:23 NLT But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God. Jesus said He would not leave us like orphans but that He would send us the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth! Jesus sent the great Holy Spirit to be our teacher and our guide, bringing everything He said to us to our remembrance, and announcing and declaring things that are yet to come!
Psalms 50:23 ESV The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God!”
