1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God;
and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
Evil Companionships Corrupt! By James L. Lantz
Things in the earth are patterned after that which is in heaven. God told Moses to build the tabernacle and everything associated with it exactly the way He showed it to him on Mount Sinai. Ex. 25:40 And look that thou make them after their pattern, which was shewed thee in the mount. Jesus taught the disciples to pray that God’s will would be done in the earth exactly like it is done in heaven! Jesus often taught in parables so those with eyes to see would grasp how God’s kingdom works. Jesus taught us that the word of God is a seed that will produce exactly what it says when planted and nurtured in the heart of a honest and good man. Matthew 13, Mark 4, and Luke 8, all combine in bringing crucial details of Jesus teaching on how to receive from the heavenly Father. Jesus stated that understanding these fundamental principals are crucial to understanding all His parables. God looks on the heart and these four types of soil are indicative of what’s in their heart. The first person refused to give the word of God any place. The second person became excited upon hearing the word and received it with joy, but when trouble and persecution came they quit believing. The third one was doing well until becoming distracted with other things. The fourth one persevered by continuing in God’s word, and overcame all the trouble, persecutions, trials, temptations, and distractions that satan used in taking down the other three. Luke 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. By being a doer of the word this man patterned his life after that which is in heaven.
Revelation 22:14&15 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
All of God’s instructions are for our good and that includes His warning to avoid evil companionships. 1 Cor. 15:33 WNT Do not deceive yourselves: “Evil companionships corrupt good morals. Solomon, with all his wisdom, chose idolatrous women for his wives and eventually worshipped idols with them. Today a marriage is to be between one man and one woman and christians are to only marry those who are also in Christ. 1 Cor. 7:39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. Believers who find themselves in a marriage with an unbeliever are not to leave their unbelieving spouse. God said He will sanctify your spouse so that your children will be clean. 1 Cor. 7:15 But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace. God is a faithful God and He expects us to be faithful to Him! He said we are not to have any other gods before Him! As the Spirit of God revealed in Revelation 22 idolaters will not have entry into that heavenly city nor be a partaker of the tree of life. Godly people are not to enter into covenant with nor join themselves with the ungodly.
God chose the father and mother we would be born of, but He allows us to choose our friends.
We must not despise our parents, for God requires that we honor our father and mother in order to be well and enjoy a long life on the earth. God’s wisdom for choosing friends goes a long way towards where we end up. I heard a wise man say that we become like our five best friends. It would be wise to ask ourselves, do my friends do things that God hates. Here is a list of seven things God hates!
Pro. 6:16-19 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
Remember the Lord’s command to withdraw from every brother that walks disorderly. Paul goes on to describe one aspect of being disorderly as those who aren’t working but are eating the food of others. 2 Thess. 3:12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread. Paul is not referring to those who can’t work but rather those who won’t. Those who are not engaged in doing that which is constructive tend to become fault finders and free loaders getting off into things they shouldn’t. How true the saying, an idle mind is the devils workshop. If our minds are not occupied on meditating the word of God and doing our work we give the devil way to much opportunity to bring us thoughts of destruction and evil. Pro. 18:9 He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster. Pro. 13:20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. Be wise in who you hang out with! Psalms 119:63 I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts. It really is true that you become what you behold! Our minds are a lot like our mouth! What we put into our mouth gets chewed on, then it gets swallowed, and then it becomes a part of us.
Jehoshaphat was king over Judah during the time wicked king Ahab ruled in Israel. Jehoshaphat kept the commandments of the Lord and did not worship Baal like king Ahab, but his son, Jehoram had married king Ahab’s daughter. We have this account where king Jehoshaphat went to visit king Ahab and was welcomed greatly. King Jehoshaphat agreed to join with king Ahab in going to battle against the king of Syria. They were warned by the prophet of God that the armies of Israel would be scattered like sheep without a master but they did not heed the Lord’s warning.
2 Chron. 18:1&2 Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, and joined affinity with Ahab. And after certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. And Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people that he had with him, and persuaded him to go up with him to Ramothgilead.
As the account unfolds King Ahab dies in the battle and King Jehoshaphat escapes with his life and a rebuke from the Lord. 2 Chron. 19:2 And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the LORD? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the LORD. This is in the Bible so you and I don’t make the same mistake. Pro. 1:10 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. We are to love the sinner, but hate the sin. We are to love sincerely and yet abhor evil, or as one translation says, regard with horror that which is evil and cling to that which is right. “Tolerance is the first step towards conformity”
As documented in the above scriptures we see that God desires our marriages, friendships, and our associations (which includes our thoughts), to be with the righteous so that we are not drawn away to serve other gods. God so desires for His people to have a good start, being nurtured and trained by believing parents. Genesis 18:19 YLT for I have known him, that he commandeth his children, and his house after him (and they have kept the way of Jehovah), to do righteousness and judgment, that Jehovah may bring on Abraham that which He hath spoken concerning him.
Update On The Lands And Building Project!
The Lord has given us clarity on the the design of the church building and location of the driveway. We expect to be able to start cutting in the driveway for the church parking lot in March of 2024 and then on to purchasing the next two lots. PRAISE THE LORD!
Investors will share in the reward for every salvation, every backslider who comes back to God, every one who receives the baptism in the Holy Spirit, every person healed, delivered and restored, instructed and trained in the way of righteousness through this ministry. Jesus stated that where our treasure is, there will our heart be also. Our heart follows that which we value highly. David set his affection on God’s house and prepared for the building of God’s house with all his might and he finished well. Every seed we sow into kingdom projects secures a reward for us in heaven and brings forth a harvest in the earth after it’s own kind, plus we are keeping our heart close to God. God loves His people and will not with hold any good thing from those that love Him and are joined to His purposes. All who value our Lord’s command to not lay up treasure on earth for ourselves must keep our motivation for accumulation of wealth to be for distribution!
You can have a part in this great work regardless of your current financial status. God is looking for people who are willing to give from what they have! Jesus will take the little and make it into a lot! In the scriptures we hear things like, what do you have in your house, or give according to what you have and not according to what you don’t have. Paul praises the liberality of those in the Macedonia churches who gave cheerfully even though they were experiencing much lack in their own lives. 2 Cor. 8:2 How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. Paul then tells how they intreated him to please receive their gift! God was pleased with their faith and willingness to give from the little that they had. If we have desire but have nothing to give, God wants us to ask Him for seed. The same God who gives us food to eat, and multiplies the seed we have sown, is the God who gives seed to the sower. 2 Corinthians 9:10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;
This is good news! God is looking at our heart and not at how much we have or don’t have in our earthy account. Jesus said, I will build My church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against My church. You and I both know that gates are stationary, they do not charge anybody. We are the ones who charge the gates of hell where satan has bound those who are waiting to hear the truth that makes one free!
