The Life Of Faith! : By James L Lantz

Faith pleases God! God can not be pleased unless we believe He is God and that He is a rewarder of all those who earnestly seek Him. We are justified by believing that Jesus is the Son of God, born of a virgin, died for our sins, and raised from the dead and confessing Him as our Lord!  Romans 4:5  But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.  You can not get a better deal than this! God receives your faith, which you received from Him, and grants you eternal life and inheritance which was provided for you by Christ Jesus. It is written that God counted Abraham righteous to not only honor him but to show us how to become righteous.  Rom. 4:24 CEV They were written for us, since we will also be accepted because of our faith in God, who raised our Lord Jesus to life.  We can be glad that God accepts our faith, since Jesus was the only one able to keep the law. Failing to keep just one of God’s commandments means we are guilty of all.  Gal. 3:11  But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.  Again, in the epistle to the Hebrews, the Spirit of God admonishes us that righteous people are to live by faith.  Heb. 10:38  Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. In this chapter we read that drawing back leads to destruction and we know that God does not want us destroyed. Now we know, drawing back is not faith! Faith is ready and willing to go and to do! The children of Israel were in faith for leaving Egypt when they ate that first passover meal. Exodus 12:11  And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD’s passover.  Israel pleased the Lord that day, they believed, they obeyed, they were ready to go!  Proverbs 16:7  When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.  The church that Jesus returns for will be glorious, without spot or wrinkle! And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. We who are excitedly expecting His return will be ready!

The life of faith is adventurous and full of blessing! When we died to self and made Jesus the Lord of our life we were confident things were going to end well because of Jesus, we just didn’t know all the details along the way. Walking by faith means we are focused on hearing God’s voice and following His Spirit. Jesus said, those who hear My sayings and do them are like a wise man that built his house on the rock! Paul writes that the righteousness of the law will be fulfilled in those who walk after the Spirit.  Rom. 8:5  For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.  According to this verse our actions follow what our mind is on! This is true with our eyes as well, our feet go towards that which we are looking at. The patriarchs of old would have had opportunity to have returned to that land they came out of if they would have looked back longingly. They didn’t look back because their faith was on a better country, a heavenly country, where God prepared them a city.  Heb. 11:1  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  When we hear what God said faith comes to us! Abram heard God say, leave your father’s house, your kinfolk, and your country and come to a land that I will show you! I will make a great nation of you! I will bless you and make your name great and you shall be a blessing! Genesis 12:3  And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. The blessing of Abraham has become ours through Jesus Christ.

We Honor The Father By Obeying His Word And Fulfilling Our Part!

God may or may not call you to leave your home, but I can assure you this, if your kinfolk are pursuing the things of the flesh they will think you are nuts to be getting up early on Sunday morning to serve at church. It will seem foolish to them when you choose to listen to the word of God being taught rather than watching football or a secular movie. God chose that men might be saved through the foolishness of preaching! Saved is translated from the greek word SOZO, which means to save, deliver, protect, heal, preserve, do well, and make whole. Thus, God chose for people to be saved, filled with the Holy Spirit, healed, delivered, protected, increased, and made whole by hearing the gospel!
Jesus gave us, His church, a charge to take the gospel of the Kingdom to all the people of the earth! The first two words of our assignment is Go ye! Remember Jesus instruction to be first filled with the Holy Spirit before going into all the world. Faith in God was exercised by about three thousand people on Pentecost who realized their need of salvation! Their commitment held as they kept meeting together for fellowship, prayer, and the teaching of God’s word! The life of faith requires faithfulness to God and to those we are joined to!  Pro. 20:6  Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?

You can’t shut faith up! They tried to shut Bartimaeus up but he cried out more! Mark 10:48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. Paul and Silas were imprisoned and beaten for casting a demon out of a girl, but they prayed and sang praises unto God. Acts 16:26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.

Faith will rise up from within when it appears everything is going wrong and everybody seems against you.  1 Sam. 30:6  And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Who will be Caught Up To Be With The Lord At His Appearing?

Everyone who believes that Christ righteousness has become their righteousness in sincerity and in truth! We receive God’s righteousness ( His grace ) through faith! Our first step is to make Jesus the Lord of our life and then walk closely with Him that we are not deceived by false teachers that abound in these last days. Jude 19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. John writes that we who have this hope purify ourselves. We purify ourselves by taking heed to the word of the Lord. This is called the washing of the the water of the Word! 1 John 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

1 Tim. 6:14 . . . keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of . . .
2 Tim. 4:8 . . . unto all them also that love his appearing.

Titus 2:12-14 . . . denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

1 Pet. 1:7 . . . your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ

I Remind You Of These Things!

The Spirit of God wants us to be mindful to live our lives in a godly and honest way!
Holding on to faith and a good conscience so we don’t make shipwreck of our lives. Holy living instructions decreed for Bishops and Deacons are standards God wants us to model
for all of His children to attain too. God has a standard of behavior that He expects His church to hold to, thus it is written, without controversy great is the mystery of godliness.
Beware that you do not yield to seducing spirits and doctrines that demons teach to separate you from the faith. Paul specifically mentions the demonic doctrine of forbidding to marry and commanding to not eat meat.

1 Tim. 4:1  Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

1 Tim. 4:6  If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
